$9.2m upgrades for childcare

MORE than $9m will be invested into upgrades for community childcare centres in the ACT.

The ACT Government funding will not only improve childcare facilities to meet the required new National Quality Framework for early childhood education but create an extra 173 childcare places.

Included in the funding is $2m towards capital works for Forrest Early Childhood Centre – taking their children numbers from 46 to 96.

The funding is part of a $60 million education and care package announced earlier this year that will be rolled out over two years.

The National Quality Framework for early childhood education will come into effect from January 2012.
