Range of film and dance

"Close Range" will feature "(...in wonderland)".

“CLOSE RANGE” is the latest offering from Canberra Contemporary Art Space, and hopes to appeal to all lovers of visual and performing art this Saturday.

A mixture of film, music, visual art and contemporary dance, the event will begin with film screenings from 10am to 4pm at Gorman House, with the space re-opening at 7.30pm for staged performances.

One performance will feature brother/sister duo James and Emma Batchelor. James, currently studying a Bachelor of Dance at Victorian College of the Arts, was trained through Quantum Leap Youth Dance Company with sister Emma.

Their dance film “(…in wonderland)”, with the support of a JUMP mentoring grant and a Start-up grant from artsACT, was created under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed choreographer and film maker Sue Healey and explores the “space between our daily conscious experiences and the unconscious desires of the mind.”

“(…in wonderland)” joins four other performances from local, national and international artists.

“Close Range” at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Gorman House, film screenings – 10am – 4pm (free entry) and performance evening – 7.30pm ($10 entry) on Saturday October 8. More information at www.ccas.com.au
