CANBERRA Dance Development Centre says it is extending opportunities for local dancers through classical ballet workshops with guest teacher Vicki Attard.

One of the Australian Ballet’s most accomplished former ballerinas, Attard joined the Australian Ballet 1985.

She joined the Sydney Dance Company for its 1989 season and rejoined The Australian Ballet in 1990, becoming principal artiste in 1993.

Attard danced the title role of Manon in Tokyo and the opening and all subsequent performances. She also performed the lead role of Cio Cio San in Madame Butterfly for the New York season.

Other Australian Ballet tours included London, Greece, Italy, China and Russia.

Since her retirement in 1999, Vicki has travelled Australia freelance teaching.

CDDC director Jackie Hallahan describes this as an “amazing opportunity for all participating students.”

The Vicki Attard workshop will be held on November 13 at the Canberra Dance Development Centre in Mt Rogers: elementary ballet 10-11.30am; intermediate/advanced Ballet 11.45am-1.15pm; variations 2-3.30pm; and repertoire 3.45pm- 5.15pm.

Bookings essential to 6259 1550 registration forms available at www.dancedevelopment.com.au
