Ballot open to see Mary

Princess Mary and Prince Frederik of Denmark.

A BALLOT will determine who will have the chance to attend the special tree planting by Princess Mary and Prince Frederik of Denmark on Tuesday November 22 at the National Arboretum.

The royal couple will only be in Canberra for a short time and the ACT Government has advised this may be the only public opportunity to see them.

Only 500 people will have the opportunity to attend the ceremonial planting, and balloted invitations will be allocated to either one adult and a guest, or one adult and their immediate children.

Princess Mary and Prince Frederik will plant a native Denmark tree, the Acer Campetre more commonly known as a Field Maple.

People interested in entering the ballot for the invitation to the tree-planting event must register by visiting www.events.act.gov.au or by calling Canberra on 13 22 81 during normal business hours, providing their name and contact details, including names of the guest or children who will attend. Nominations for the ballot close at 5pm on Monday November 14.

Winners of the ballot will be notified by Friday November 18.
