Brand gets a gong

Brand Hoff... honoured.

CANBERRA Business Council Chairman and the founder and former CEO of Tower Software, Brand Hoff has been nationally recognised for a lifetime achievement in the technology industry.

Mr Hoff won the prestigious Pearcey Medal, last week at the iAwards, Australia’s premier technology awards program.

The medal is awarded for “outstanding lifetime achievement and contribution to the development and growth of the IT professions, research and industry”.

“2011 Pearcey Medal winner Brand Hoff has been an outstanding business leader and exemplar entrepreneur for the whole of his career,” CSIRO’s ICT Centre director Dr Ian Oppermann said.
“His pioneering efforts in Document Management Systems positioned Australia as the world leader in the creation and use of this now pervasive technology.”

Mitchell-based company, Alacrity Technologies won the award for Research and Development for their work on the Closed-Loop Environment for Wireless (CLEW ®) technology.

The technology was designed to provide automated communications between organisations and their clients for time critical information.

National iAward winners, have the opportunity to compete at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards later this year.

The 2011 iAwards company category ACT winners were:

Winner: Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Cordelta and Cogent (Joint Nomination)
for MyHospitals.gov.au

Research and Development Category
Winner: CSIRO ICT Centre for Phenonet

Start-up Company Category
Winner: Cloud Centra for CloudCentral

Sustainability and Green IT Category
Winner: CSIRO ICT Centre for Phenonet
