Concrete truck rolls over on Northbourne Ave

Two southbound lanes of Northbourne Avenue are closed near the intersection with Flemington Road, due to the clean-up of a truck roll-over which happened at 8.55am – the second roll-over in just over a week.

Our photographer Silas Brown and journalist Kathryn Vukovljak were at the scene and helped to free the driver, who had a head injury, through the windscreen.

An eyewitness said she saw the truck take the turn slightly too wide and that the heavy load tipped the vehicle over.

Another eyewitness, who was driving with his brother behind the truck, said that he had heard on the radio five minutes before, that there hasn’t been a road accident this week, “touch wood”.

I was present at this accident this morning. I hope the man involved makes a speedy recovery. Oh and as for my shirt, just throw it out 🙂
