THE fire that ripped through the top storey of an apartment block in Banks yesterday is being investigated by police as suspicious.

At about 3.45pm, police were called to the fire on Thomas Hart Street, Banks, where ACT Fire Brigade were extinguishing a blaze raging inside an apartment building.

Police said that on arrival the roof of the building was fully engulfed in flames and had collapsed.  No one was injured during the fire.

AFP Forensics are currently conducting an examination on the scene.

Witnesses who were on Thomas Hart Street around the time of the fire that haven’t spoken to police are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
