Fashionista wins in Sydney

FASHIONABLE Canberra filly Angela Menz has taken out the hotly contested Sydney Spring Carnival’s Myer Mad About the Hat Day Fashions on the Field competition at Rosehill Gardens on the weekend.

The 27-year-old embraced the hot trend of the season, colour blocking, and wore a self-designed magenta cowl neck silk top and chartreuse, high-waisted skirt paired with an orange, chunky necklace designed by her mother and orange Mui Mui sandals.

Menz also wore a self-designed, orange, sculptured, tear-drop head piece, which included magenta egret feathers. Menz, as the NSW winner of the competition, will now be flown to Melbourne for the 2011 Melbourne Cup Carnival where she will compete in the National Final held on Crown Oaks Day.

The winner in Melbourne will have the chance to take out the Myer Fashions on the Field national title and the major prize which includes a Lexus IS 250C sports convertible, $5000 Myer Shopping Spree and a Longines Master Collection watch.

Menz was thrilled with the outcome and said, “I follow fashion trends and love colour blocking. I designed my whole outfit. I had already booked my ticket to Melbourne for Crown Oaks Day so this will ensure that my day is much more exciting.”

The competition was presided by a panel of celebrity judges including Sydney Spring Carnival Ambassadors Nikki Phillips and Firass Dirani, Myer Ambassador Laura Dundovic, celebrity milliner Kerrie Stanley , talented designer Jackie Recek and previous Fashions on the Field winner Lisa Wellings.  The colourful event was hosted by “X Factor’s” Luke Jacobz and Seven news reader Sarah Cumming.
