THE fences that enclose Floriade will be installed around Commonwealth Park on Monday.
The fences, which protect the gardens, will also remain throughout the festival. Alternative access will be in place for pedestrians and cyclists.
Lanes will be closed on Parkes Way from 9am to 4pm on Monday while the fences are installed.
Traffic lights on Commonwealth Avenue near the turn off to the park will also be installed on Monday and the speed limit will be reduced from 70 to 60kmh until the festival concludes.
From Monday August 22 the park will be closed while organisers construct the event infrastructure.
Visitors will still be able to access Regatta Point, the National Capital Exhibition, the Canberra Business Event Centre and the Deck restaurant as normal but the construction will affect access to the Regatta Point car park.
