THE Fun Police, better known as IT specialists Brett Norton and Mark Duggan, set off today on their esCarpade for Camp Quality.

Now in its 20th year, the seven-day car rally will see the Fun Police with almost 80 other cars, travel from Bendigo, Victoria along the Great Ocean Road to South Australia then back through NSW town of Deniliquin to finish in Bright, Victoria.

The route is the same route used in the first esCarpade in 1992.

This is the second year Brett and Mark have entered their car “Woody”, a 1976 HJ Kingswood, into the event.

“It’s a great cause and a fun event,” Brett says. “It’s something that Mark has wanted to do for many many years.”

“It’s on my bucket list,” Mark says.

“I’ve grown up around cars my whole life and wanted to build an old Holden and take it on a rally. And then we found a good cause.

“We were sitting around after work talking about it, then found a car and next morning bought the car and here we are.”

Already, the Fun Police team have raised $31,500 for Camp Quality – exceeding their $25,000 target.

Although, they are unsure of how much money has been raised this year through esCarpade, last year the rally brought in $1.3m for the cause.

Camp Quality aim to improve the quality of life for children living with cancer and their families through unrelenting optimism and the healing power of laughter.

They use a number of programs for family support, recreation, education and hospital.
