POLICE pursued a car last night driven by a 14-year-old girl through Kaleen.
About 11.50pm, Belconnen Police saw a white Mitsubishi Lancer speeding on Ginninderra Drive in Kaleen. When they attempted to pull the car over, the car sped away approaching 130km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Police said as the car approached the intersection of Mouat Street, the driver went through a red light. The driver then failed to negotiate the corner, losing control of the car and striking a concrete traffic island.
After being assessed by ACT Ambulance Service, the youth was apprehended and taken to City Watch House.
She will face the ACT Children’s Court today charged with traffic offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, not stopping when signalled by police and reckless and dangerous driving.
