Hawker KFC robbed by armed duo

A MAN and woman armed with knives robbed the KFC in Hawker last night.

Police were called to the scene at about 10pm, where it was reported that the male offender grabbed a staff member in the restaurant. The staff member was able to break free and run behind the counter.

Police said the offenders approached the counter and demanded cash and were handed a sum of cash from one of the tills. The offenders then jumped over the counter and unsuccessfully tried to obtain a further sum of money.  They left the restaurant a short time later.

The man is described as about 180 centimetres (5’11”) tall with a slim build and was wearing a black and white mask with a green hood and dark coloured bandanna wrapped around his neck, a dark-coloured loose fitting jacket, dark-coloured tracksuit pants and gloves.

The man spoke with an Australian accent.

The woman is described as having a slim build and long dark brown hair, wearing black pants, a black top with a red horizontal stripe and a black balaclava. She was carrying a black bag.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
