Hearing on boundaries

A PUBLIC hearing to consider the submissions for the proposed ACT Legislative Assembly electoral boundaries will be held on Wednesday, August 31.

The Augmented ACT Electoral Commission published the proposed redistribution on July 8. The proposed redistribution would see the ACT’s electorates redistributed to a seven-member Ginninderra electorate, consisting of Belconnen, Gungahlin, Lyneham, O’Connor and Turner.

Molonglo would become a five-member electorate, including all the district of Molonglo Valley. No alteration would be made to Brindabella.

Eighty-two submissions were made about the proposed redistribution, of the submissions 18 supported the proposal of the Augmented Electoral Commission; 58 opposed the proposal; and another six put forward an alternate proposal.
