Kids get physical

THE  Bluearth Foundation is working with 10 schools in the ACT and Queanbeyan region during Health and Psychical Education week to help students experience what it means to be physically active.

And it is staging a Bluearth gala event, which includes special celebration days for students and teachers at four of the schools, with guest appearances from the Brumbies and the Canberra TransACT Capitals players at Macquarie and Bonython primary schools.

Bluearth CEO Helen Berry says: “We recognise that the health and wellbeing of a community starts with a positive attitude toward being physically active. By celebrating and sharing our experiences with our children we can help to instill a life-long love of physical activity.”

Founded by Australian businessman and philanthropist Malcolm Freake in 2000, the Bluearth Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation whose focus is to increase the levels of physical activity among Australians, in particular school-age children. Bluearth programs are currently being conducted in 236 schools across Australia.

The week’s events have been supported by ActewAGL, the ACT Department of Education and ACT Sport and Recreation. More information at www.bluearth.org

Bonython Primary School students enjoy the Bluearth Foundation Celebration Day.
