Movember team raises $116,000

TRANSACT Rocks Movember team has raised $116,000 for Movember, the second highest amount raised in Australia.

The team, that includes more than 80 members, was pipped at the post by Macquarie Bank. All funds from the month-long charity event goes to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue.

“This result wouldn’t have been possible without the support of local Canberrans,” Ivan Slavich, TransACT Rocks Movember team leader said.

“Enduring taunts about the relative success (or not) of my mo-growing effort was all part of the fun and well worth it!”

Team leader Ivan Slavich was also named as the top individual fundraiser in Australia, raising more than $50,000.

Funds were raised in a variety of ways throughout November including through individual donations, Movember Mega Matches and Movember Gala parties held at King O’Malley’s.

“Movember is a great time of year because everybody gets together, has fun and most importantly talks about men’s health,” Peter Barclay, TransACT Rocks Movember founding team member said.

“All of our efforts do make a difference and we’re proud to be part of that.”
