TWO men caught an alleged burgler yesterday afternoon who was acting suspiciously around a home in Waramanga.
The 30-year-old Weston man was seen at about 4.40pm attempting to leave the home on a bike with a backpack when a neighbour approached the man and asked if he lived at the residence.
The alleged offender said no and the neighbour tried to prevent him leaving and called the police. Another man helped the neighbour restrain the offender until police arrived.
Police said two residences in the area reported burglaries and stolen items matching the descriptions of those reported were found on the alleged offender.
The man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and one count of going equipped for burglary. He will today face the ACT Magistrates Court.
