Repeat drink-driver caught

A 38-year-old Weston man was caught drink driving on Sunday morning, more than four times over the legal limit.

The man was caught on Streeton Drive in Weston at 2.15am and taken to Woden Police Station where he recorded a reading of 0.241 despite being subject to a 0.05 blood alcohol level.

The man had previously been convicted five times for drink driving.

Acting Officer in charge of traffic operations Sergeant Jason Kennedy said this latest incident is alarming given the man’s previous offending and high reading detected.

“It should be very concerning  to all road users that people like this purposely drive on our roads with absolutely zero consideration for other people’s safety” he said.

From August 29 to September 5, police caught 17 drink-drivers in the ACT, 11 of those repeat offenders. Eight of the drivers caught held restricted licences, which carry a zero blood alcohol requirement.
