‘Royal’ visit for Floriade

Jane Stephens, Heart Foundation champion and sister of Princess Mary of Denmark, will help celebrate World Heart Day with the official launch of the Heart Foundation’s National Capital Guided Walks

HEART Foundation ambassador and sister of Princess Mary of Denmark, Jane Stephens will be in Canberra tomorrow to launch the Heart Foundation’s National Capital Guided Walks at Floriade to coincide with World Heart Day.

The walks, that will take place daily and are designed to show visitors sights and attractions around Lake Burley Griffin, are part of a full day of activity to celebrate World Heart day that includes students from three ACT primary schools who will begin their Jump Rope for Heart programs on Stage 88 at Floriade.

Heartmoves will also run a session, for people to start off the day with exercise that’s good for the heart.

World Heart day aims to inform people that heart disease and stroke is the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.1million lives a year.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the ACT and more than 50,000 people Canberrans live with a long term cardiovascular disease condition.
