Salvos urge festive plan

By Rafiqa Fattah

WITH Christmas season approaching, the Salvation Army has released a booklet for people experiencing financial stress to help plan their Christmas expenditure.

“Start planning and managing your money now,”  says Tom Devlin, head of the Salvation Army’s Moneycare Financial Counselling Service.

“Otherwise you could be facing a debt hangover come January.”

The booklet reminds people that the cost of the gift is not a reflection of your love and “not only are the best things in life free, but the best things in life are not things.”

Tips for a debt-free Christmas booklet can be downloaded for free at salvos.org.au. The Salvation Army’s Moneycare financial counselling service provides help to Australians in financial difficulties and crisis.
