Sports stars recognised

SIX Canberra sportspeople were today inducted into the ACT Sporting Hall of Fame.

The inductees were; Ned Zelic (football),  Ben Taylor (hockey), Brennon Dowrick (gymnastics), Joan Kellett (swimming), Peter Baskett (basketball), and Tim Sheens (rugby league).

Minister for tourism, sport and recreation Andrew Barr said the athletes were great role models for Canberrans of all ages and abilities and demonstrate the benefits of being physically active.

Previous inductees to the Hall of Fame include Jim Roberts (futsal/football), Ron Tuckerman (lawn bowls), Sacha Wainwright (football), Gary Belcher (rugby league) and Joe Roff (rugby union).
