Suspect escapes police chase

A DRIVER suspected of burglary and theft led police on a chase through Florey and Scullin on Saturday afternoon.

At around 1.40pm police spotted a maroon Peugeot hatchback on John Cleland Crescent, Florey, which its male driver, police believed was subject of a warrant in relation to burglary and theft charges.

Officers followed the car into Florey shops, however the car sped away leading a pursuit through Florey and Scullin. Police lost sight of the car at the intersection of Ross Smith Crescent and Hargrave Street, Scullin.

The chase reached a speed of 80kph in a 60kph zone and lasted about three minutes.
