Tom challenges the world

CIT student Tom Ramsey will represent the ACT at this year’s WorksSkills competition in London.

The competition will be held over October and is the biggest international skills competition for young people in the world, including 1000 competitiors from more than 50 countries in 46 skill areas.

Tom, a landscape gardener, said he was eager to put his landscaping skills to the test.

“I’ve been very lucky to have a great teacher and mentor at the Canberra Institute of Technology during my apprenticeship,” Tom said.

“Scott Umbers has continually encouraged me to do my best, and that motivation has helped me earn a place on the National Team.

“I am also lucky to have the full backing of my employer, Urban Contracting in Pialligo, which means I am free to focus on bringing home a medal for Australia and the ACT.”
