Upgrades close city drive

ROAD works on Wendouree Drive, which links the National Carillon to Blundells Cottage, starts Monday.

A section of Wendouree Drive will be temporarily closed from Monday, July 11 at 7am to Saturday, September 3 . The work will include, resurfacing Wendouree Drive, new pathways, improved lighting in Kings Park, speed humps and additional car space at the Carillon.

NCA chief executive Gary Rake said the upgrades will provide cyclists commuting to work an alternate route of the exisiting RG Menzies walk, which is shared with pedestrians.

“The new pathways near Blundells Cottage will give improved access to Lake Burley Griffin from Constitution Avenue,” he said.

There will be access to the National Carillon from Kings Avenue bridge. Access to Blundells Cottage will  be from Kings Avenue or Constitution Avenue.

The National Carillon recital program and opening hours of Blundells Cottage will remain as normal.
