Where are Cam & Lisa?

Cam and LisaUPDATED VERSION

Cam and Lisa are no more. The top-rating commercial radio team has been abandoned after Cam Sullings decided to resign from the highly successful MIX106.3 breakfast show.

“Cam has resigned from the position for personal reasons,” says Eoghan O’Byrne, general manager of Canberra FM Radio.

“We are retaining his services in our afternoon show, which is great, and we have an offer in front of Lisa at the moment and she’s weighing up some options, but she hasn’t made any firm decisions yet.

“However, I can say that the Cam and Lisa show has ended as such, based on Cam’s decision to resign.”

The duo was to have returned from leave as expected this week and the MIX106.3 website, usually flowing to excess with the breakfast duo’s doings and photos, has no mention of them on the home page and offers only a constrained reference to their former shift as “MIX106.3 in the Morning”.

Lisa Ridgley has not returned our call. She has been the queen of Canberra breakfast radio for many years and was partnered with Mark Parton, now with 2CC, until he left the FM station in July 2008, to be replaced by Sullings.

An announcement about the future personalities for the breakfast show is expected next month.

I will speculate that there is trouble in paradise.

It's not the first time Sullings has been on a breakfast radio program that has rated lower than Canberra FM has expected. Top-rating is not good enough for Canberra FM, only number one will do. He failed on 104.7 and now he has failed on 106.3, how many more chances will Sullings get?

I would also speculate that Lisa's options put in front of her would be get your showreel together and look for a job in another market.

I agree. Quite happy for both of them to have gone, especially Lisa with her forced screech of a laugh; should have got rid of her a long time ago. I've started listening to 106.3 in the mornings again now that they have gone.

Well I think they were a great team on the 106.3 Breakfast show!
They kept listeners interested! Never boring, and always up for a laugh…..
Well Done Cam & Lisa

I thought their morning chat was boring & found myself falling back into a deep sleep. Would be more interesting listening to
the muffled sounds of our neighbours making breakfast, but in some small way they were a little better than the school yard talk
of the two overgrown boys talking about their games & cars on 104.7 who we also switched off from – come on!!! when is
Canberra going to crank it up?

It's simple – switch to 666 with Ross Solly. No stupid ads, a mix of light hearted stuff but also reliable and informed (no tabloid) current affairs.

Now get rid of Matt Tilleys "gotcha calls!" For goodness sake, please stop inflicting this low-brow, bottom of the barrel, 1980s 'candid camera-style' humour on us. It is truly awful. Any new breakfast show on Mix should ditch this embarrassing junk quick smart.

I enjoyed Cam & Lisa, but must admit Cam grated om me at times. How sad for Lisa to be dumped at such short notice. What a terrible shock for her. I wish her all the very best of luck and hope she bounces back larger and brighter than ever.

After a couple of weeks without the 'Cam and Lisa' show I have found the change quite pleasant. There was quite a bit of bitterness and complaining creeping into the show and Cam was not the most hospitable host. I also agree Lisa was a little forced. First thing in the morning too….sheesh.
The best thing though is the variety of music being played. I don't know who programs it but I am so happy not to be hearing Katie Perry 3x between 8 and 9am anymore.

Great cover the other week City News! Lisa Ridgely looks on top of the world and showing what a beautiful person she is on the inside and out! The story really is that the entire Canberra community has lost a great vehicle and voice of support through Lisa. As soon as a not-for-profit, a big corporation or some media organisation snaps her up I can see her rising star shining for them…meanwhile morning radio has gone to the dogs and doesn’t get good until 9am with ABC’s Alex Sloan.

I am so disappointed that Cam and Lisa are no longer doing the breakfast show. Lisa in particular brightened my mornings with her infectious laugh and genuine nature, concern and care for all of the residents of Canberra and surrounds. So many incredible things came from the duo of Cam and Lisa to make a better life for so many who desperately needed a helping hand. The amazing amounts of money raised and awareness bought to many charities. I personally miss the genunie, non-judgmental and bright welcome to my mornings.

Such a shame that over the last few weeks we have had to listen to childish garbage like showbiz gossip and the 106 staff who went out and got drunk on the weekend, seriously!!! Goodbye 106 I certainly won’t be listening anymore!

So very sad to see you gone Cam and Lisa and wish you every happiness in what ever you choose to do. Big loss Canberra, big loss!!!!

Obviously you feel quite strongly about Canberra’s radio personalities so we’ve profiled one half of Cam and Lisa’s replacement duo, Biggzy here: http://citynews.com.au/2011/news/biggzy-is-‘where-the-love-is’-2/ Let us know what you think, will you be tuning in?

I got so tired of hearing Lisa talking over the top of Cam – of hearing her forcing her inanity onto the airwaves – that I was looking forward to a replacement

until I heard the replacements online.

Why does a female presenter have to sneak in the bitchy comments all the time. I want to be woken up pleasantly – if I wanted to hear this sort of crap I would leave the radio off and let my wife provide the same entertainment.

Here’s the deal – smarten up the act – stop with the sniping – learn to listen to others opinions (and not just talk over the top of them) – grow the hell up and let radio become the ENTERTAINMENT it was supposed to be and not a forced ego parade.
