IN a Canberra first, Deanes Transit group has launched its new service which provides free wi-fi connection on their buses.
The Queanbeyan-based bus and coach service trialed wi-fi on the Queanbeyan and Yass commuter buses with the results hailed a success. Commuters experienced uninterrupted browsing and reasonable download speeds for mobile devices.
“We all know about the benefits and opportunities the Internet provides to users. It’s educational, it’s a productivity tool and it’s a powerful method of getting your message out there,” said Jeremy Wee, general manager of the Deanes Transit group.
“And while we can’t fix Canberra’s peak hour traffic at the moment, we can keep our commuters occupied with our free wi-fi facility.”
The next step in the roll out is installation in Deanes Buslines and Transborder Express commuter fleets and trials on the coach and school bus fleets.
Deane’s Transit group is the first busline in Southern NSW and Canberra to have free wi-fi on its regular bus routes. Putting Canberra among international capital cities.
“We’re very proud to achieve another ‘first’, especially one in our part of the State and the ACT through introducing wi-fi. Canberra’s public transport needs to move forward and here is one way of doing it. We recognised this by looking abroad and listening to what our customers wanted,” said Mr Wee.
