Williams’ landscape for sale

Fred Williams' gouache, Hillside Landscape, Cavan 1977.

CANBERRA art collector Bernie Ayers is selling one of his favourite gouache paintings – the work “Hillside Landscape” by Fred Williams.

The piece, which was painted in 1977 during a visit on invitation from the Murdoch family, to the Cavan property, is one of more than 30 works to be on display in an exhibition entitled “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow”.

“All works are investment-quality paintings,” Ayers said.

“And prices do not include normal gallery or auction commissions.”

Other works on show include works by legendary artists; John Coburn, Arthur Boyd, John Brack, and Charles Blackman.

Also on display are the works of young Archibald prize finalists; Ben Quilty, Sam Leach, and Michael Zavros and artists who have successfully moved street art to canvas Anthony Lister, VEXTA and Kill Pixie.

“Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” at the Lake Side Gallery, 20 Brown Street, Yarralumla from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday, September 17-18.
