2CA raises thousands for Marymead

RADIO station 2CA has raised $20,500 during the weekend’s 24-hour Marathon for Marymead.

Presenters Leighton Archer and Larry Appley, who completed the 24-hour shift, encouraged listeners to support the organisation, that supports vulnerable and disadvantaged children and families in Canberra, by making a financial pledge.

As part of the marathon the duo spoke to special guests including Marcia Hines, Larry Emdur, Melissa Doyle, Rhonda Burchmore, Judith Durham, Ben Dark and Amanda Keller.

“24 hours sounds like a long time and there were manic moments of exhaustion and craziness but the thought of helping Marymead and Canberra kids got us to the finish line,” Larry said.

“Once again, Canberran’s have dug deep and have shown what a kind and generous community they are – it’s so overwhelming,” Leighton said.
