NSW Rural Fire Service Assistant Commissioner Dominic Lane has been appointed as the new ACT Emergency Services Commissioner.

“Mr Lane brings with him 25 years of emergency services experience to this vital role to ensure efficient and effective emergency response for the ACT community,” says Minister for Police and Emergency Services Simon Corbell.

Lane started his career as a volunteer and has held various positions including District Manager, Policy and Standards Manager and Regional Manager and most recently occupied the role of Assistant Commissioner.

Corbell says the ACT Government had acted quickly to fill the role following the resignation of current commissioner, Mark Crosweller.

“Recruiting a new ESA commissioner has been a high priority for me and the ACT Government,
particularly as we are now into the 2012-13 bushfire season,” he said.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Crosweller for his dedication and efforts as ESA Commissioner, particularly in developing a cohesive and responsive emergency capability for the ACT.

“Mr Crosweller has been an outstanding and widely respected Commissioner and I thank him for his
service and advice to the government.”

Lane will start his new role on Monday January 14.
