BELCONNEN Arts Centre, which never sleeps,  is now offering a program of monthly classes in the visual arts for mature and would-be artists.

It’s the result of a successful application to Adult and Community Education Grants in the ACT Government.

“Window on Art” is a new art program created for over 55s, keen to develop their knowledge and art-making skills, who will work with professional artists.

On the second Wednesday of each month, participants will be given a tour of the current exhibition at the centre by a practising artist, be treated to light refreshments and then take part in a short creative workshop.

According to the centre’s community arts officer, Philip Piggin, the idea is to focus the evolving work of the “Window on Art” participants.

First tutor will be Canberra well-known and respected printmaker Jo Hollier, who will lead the March 14 program, taking participants through the exhibition “Back to BAC”.

Sessions are Wednesdays March 14, April 11, May 9, June 6, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12, from 10:30am–12:30pm at a cost of $10 per session. Enrolments are essential to info@belconnenartscentre.com.au or 6173 3300. Belconnen Arts Centre, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen. Opening Hours: 10am – 5pm Tuesday – Sunday.
