Dad delivers baby on car’s back seat

A BABY girl was delivered on the back seat of a car early this morning as her parents were on their way to the hospital.

The parents were forced to pull over at the corner of Northbourne Avenue and Alinga Street, Civic when the baby’s head began to breach.

The father of the baby girl made a Triple Zero phone call at 2.12am and was provided advice on how to assist the delivery for an ambulance service call taker. The baby was born within minutes of the phone call.

An Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said the mother and baby were taken to The Canberra Hospital in stable condition. The baby girl is the second daughter for the family.
