Rain didn’t dampen Floriade crowds

THIS year’s Floriade is set to record the second highest attendance since 1999, according to Minister for Tourism Andrew Barr.

Barr says the event also saw the largest attendance on a single day – with 35,200 coming through the turnstiles on Sunday September 30.

“This is a great result, especially considering the cancellation of one evening during NightFest due to stormy weather,” says Barr.

Floriade 2010 remains at the top of the list for the highest overall attendance, attracting 471,979.

Final attendance figures will be available later in the year.
