Community bank to open in May

CURTIN Community Bank has exceeded their capital raise target ensuring the branch will open in May.

The community bank has raised more than $750,000, with about 200 people now shareholders of the branch.

“To raise over $750,000 in this environment is no mean feat,” committee spokesperson Nick Tsoulias said.

“And while it has taken a little longer than expected to reach our minimum capital levels, the board and I are overwhelmed with the ongoing level of support not only from people wanting to purchase shares but from people wanting to open accounts and start supporting our Community Bank before we open.

“We are now there, the committee is delighted with the outcome and we can all look forward to the opening of our branch. Fit out will commence in April and will be in the most contemporary and inviting style that Bendigo Bank has to offer.”

Recruitment of a branch manager and customer service staff  has also commenced.

And a further $200,000 in shares is still available.
