Dance and music in the gardens

THE Taiwanese contemporary dance group, Dancecology, turned up at the annual ACT Arts Award on Tuesday with Mirramu dance centre director and choreographer, Elizabeth Dalman, but from now until mid-December their  visit Canberra will be sheer hard work.

Dancecology
This Saturday, December 1, for instance they’ll be joining local opera trio Three’s a Crowd in performances at an elegant garden soirée on Saturday at Terroux, a rural property in Hall as audiences enjoy drinks and canapés in a natural setting.

The soirée is a fund-raising event for the Zonta Club ofCanberrain its work to help improve the health and status of women and for Retina Australia ACT, a medical research charity and a nationwide organisation providing support and information for those affected by retinitis pigmentosa.

The event is to be be compered by Genevieve Jacobs, from 666 ABC Radio and will combine the chance to support two worthy charities with the opportunity to enjoy innovative new contemporary dance and classically trained voices, a serendipitous mix of local and international artistic talent.

Led by Grace Hsiao-yin Peng, Dancecology is a group whose work focuses on performance in and in response to the environment. Grace has degrees in both dance and agronomy and the work of the contemporary dance group very much reflects these dual interests.

Three’s a Crowd was formed earlier this year, bringing together soprano, Alexandra Dalman, (not related to Elizabeth Dalman) mezzosoprano Veronica Thwaites Brown and baritone Nikolai Morozow (Baritone).
