Election ad ban begins

VOTERS will get some relief from election ads tomorrow with a campaign advertising blackout until October 20.

ACT Electoral Commissioner Phil Green says television and radio election advertising will cease from midnight tomorrow until close of poll on Saturday.

As election voting enters the final week, over 38,000 pre-poll and postal votes have already been issued.

Voters who are unable to get to polling places on Saturday have until 8pm on Friday to cast a pre-poll vote at one of the six pre-poll centres,  located near Canberra’s major centres.

The pre-poll voting centres are at:

Belconnen:  Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Court (cnr Chandler Street)

Canberra City: Pilgrim House, 69 Northbourne Avenue

Downer:  Downer Business Park, 2 Bradfield Street

Gungahlin:  Gungahlin Library, Conference Room 1, Access via Hibberson Street

Tuggeranong: Salvation Army Hall, Cnr Anketell St and Reed St North

Woden:  Woden Smith Family, Cnr Easty and Launceston Streets
