Festival fun at the Arboretum

FOR the fourth year, the National Arboretum will play host to the Festival of the Forests: A World of Forests on Sunday April 1.

Organisers expect up to 10,000 visitors to the festival that will run from 10am to 3pm. Festivities will include free bus tours, guided walk, children’s activities and for the first time the involvement of the Australian/American Association, Spanish, Japanese and Turkish embassies.

Council of the Friends of the National Arboretum chair Jocelyn Plovits said the festival is a great opportunity to visit the arboretum, with 85 of the 100 forests already planted.

“The Arboretum is so much bigger than it was last year,” Ms Plovits said. “People can get a feeling of what’s expected at the grand opening next year.”

The ActewAGL Discovery Garden will also be open to the public.
