Flag rises on NAIDOC Week

THE 2012 ACT Naidoc Week began with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags being raised at a special ceremony in Civic Square this morning.

The ceremony followed a Ngunnawal “Welcome to Country” by Ms Laura Bell and speeches by Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Dr Chris Bourke and Mr Rod Little, chairman of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body. There was entertainment provided by dancers and musicians from Wiradjuri Echoes.
