Gruen on top in Canberra

The Gruen Planet panel
THE ABC’s Gruen Planet has topped television ratings in the territory this week.

A recent survey by media industry magazine Encore named Gruen Planet  as Australia’s favourite program, and although it rarely features in the national Top 10, Canberrans clearly love to see the machinations of ad gurus and spin doctors unveiled.

In a lacklustre ratings week where the ABC’s Media Watch was the Number 3 show, PRIME took the honours across peak and all viewing, while WIN dropped back to jostle for second place with the ABC in peak.

In the top 20, WIN was represented only by news and current affairs.

PRIME’s performance was boosted by some other offerings further down the chart – the number 47 show,  Surveillance Oz, features footage provided by Wilson ParkWatch, and nearly 20,000 Canberrans tuned in to watch fist fights in and around car parks.

Then, at number 51, PRIME had another nail biter, with 50 Greatest Plastic Surgery Shockers attracting around 18,500 viewers.

The SEVEN network has announced a reality focused line-up for 2013, including  My Kitchen Rules, renovation series House Rules, and an Australian version of Dutch hit reality series Celebrity Splash, where celebrities receive professional training to perform diving routines.
