Heavy overnight rain rolls in

EMERGENCY Services Agency says the heavy rain expected over night may cause flooding in Oaks Estate, Pialligo and lower Molonglo areas of the ACT.

An emergency services spokesperson said people in these areas should make sure they stay aware of their surroundings in case of flooding.

“You should monitor ACT local media, the ESA website (esa.act.gov.au) and the ESA Twitter and Facebook accounts for alerts and updates,” he said.

“Residents elsewhere in Territory can also expect localised flash flooding throughout the ACT which means elevated local creeks and drains and across roads and footpaths.

“They may also experience roof damage from water inundation. The ACTSES strongly advise people to stay away from storm water drains or large bodies of water.”

Residents who require assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
