Hindmarsh takes top gong at building awards

HINDMARSH Construction Australia has taken out the top gong at the Master Builders and Boral Excelllence in Building Awards.

Hindmarsh won Project of the Year for its construction of the ANU Colleges of Science – Biosciences Building, last night at an awards ceremony at the National Convention Centre.

Executive director of MBA-ACT, John Miller said the ANU Colleges of Science – Biosciences Building incorporates extremely complex architectural facade elements, with a mix of digitally moulded precast panels, high performance glazing, lightweight aluminium panelling installed with intricate geometric patterns and recycled timber sunshades.

The building took out five other awards including: Commercial Building Facade; Interior Finish; Best Use of Material; Project Manager of the Year; and Project Exhibiting Technical Difficulty.

Other big winners included: Rod Bobeldijk, Young Commercial Builder of the Year; Jamie Gianchou, Apprentice of the Year; Trystan Warn, Cadet of the Year;  Rod Jenkins, Emerging Residential Builder of the Year; Creative Building Services, Marcus Graham Architect, Cia Landscapes and Colour and Archertec Interiors, House of the Year; Steven Gavagna of Goodman Law, Professional of the Year; Modern Plaster, Supplier of the Year; J & J Interiors, Subcontractor of the Year; and Brian Lawrence from MBA Group Training, Youth Participation & Training Award.
