Indie flicks screen at Belconnen

“BELCO Flicks IV”, coming up on March 7,  is  a one-act screening of less than one hour in Theatre@BCS at Belconnen Community Centre.

Since its beginning in 2009, “Belco Flicks” has offered film-makers an opportunity to screen their work in a theatre setting as well as the chance to see independent films that are often only screened privately.

This time the theme is “Reconciliation” and the program includes a diverse array of films exploring different aspects of this theme,  telling stories of Aboriginal Australians, films such as the Sydney Opera House’s “Ship-Song Project”, narrated by Guy Pearce, an animation and  footage of performances at the 2010 Belconnen Festival.

“Belco Flicks IV” will immediately follow the launch of Belconnen Community Service’s inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan at 6pm.

The plan, has three main objectives: to build and nourish our relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, organisations and individuals to progress Reconciliation Action Plan goals; to embed an organisational culture that is welcoming and respectful of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as employees, partners and participants; and to enhance opportunities for meaningful engagement and exchange to the ongoing benefit and advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.

“Belco Flicks IV,” at the  Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Court Belconnen, 7pm, Wednesday March 7. No bookings required. Free Event.
