Libs promise extra Belconnen parking

THE Canberra Liberals have pledged hundreds of extra car parks in Belconnen if elected, in a bid to address complaints about parking difficulties in the area.

Opposition Leader Zed Seselja and Shadow Urban Services Minister Alistair Coe announced  the party would commit 500 new car parks around the Belconnen town centre in the first term of government, over and above natural growth.

The party would also would invest $500,000 for new infrastructure at Calvary Hospital to deliver around 100 new car parks.

Seselja says he “often hears from residents about the lack of parking around the Belconnen town centre and Calvary Hospital,” while Coe believes public transport isn’t an option for many Canberrans.

“We have announced significant improvements to transport in the ACT which include cleaner streets, free shuttle bus services in the suburbs and a $700 million plan to fix Canberra’s roads,” he says.
