Man attacked with machete

A MAN was attacked today by another man wielding a machete.

Police were called to a report of a burglary at an unit block on the corner of Ainslie Avenue and Gooreen Street at 12.30pm and found a man in his 20s, who had sustained a single machete wound to his leg. He was taken to The Canberra Hospital.

Police said it was believe the man was attacked after letting another man into his home; the exact circumstances of the incident and the relationship between the two men are subject to an ongoing investigation.

AFP Forensics officers have conducted an examination of the unit.

The offender was described as being Aboriginal or Islander in appearance, about six foot tall, of solid build and wearing a purple hooded jumper with white writing and dark-coloured long shorts.
