Man with blood-filled syringe robs chemist

A MAN threatened staff with a blood-filled syringe and demanded prescription medication at an O’Connor chemist last night.

Police say the man entered Capital Chemist on Sargood Street and threatened staff with the syringe, demanding they hand over prescription medication.

Staff members complied with the man’s demands and he left the store.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 173cm (5’8”) tall, slim build with brown hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a red beanie, a black jacket and blue denim jeans.

Acting North District Superintendent Peter Davis said staff were right to comply with the offender’s demands.

“No amount of money or stock is worth the threat to human life,” he said.

Anyone who saw someone matching the description of the offender in the area around the time of the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
