Musical romp on the high seas

Hayley MacDonald, Lucia Burke and Alyssa Anderson
PIED Piper Productions and Music for Everyone have joined to stage Craig Hawes’ play “Pirates of the Curry Bean”, a musical romp on the high seas and to a desert island, complete with pirates, parrots, sailors, naughty natives, buried treasure and laughs, performed by a cast aged six to 14 years.

Can Liza and Jack rescue their mother from the pirates and will they find the buried treasure before Red Beard does? You can bet they can and they will.

The two companies teach young people music theatre and theatre craft through the workshopping and performing of a short musical production and this show is also a way to introduce young audiences to music theatre.

Director Jenny Anderson and musical director John Yoon predict that the colourful set and costumes ensure that “Pirates of the Curry Bean” will offer audiences a fun production for the whole family.

“Pirates of the Curry Bean”, at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, Manuka, 10am June 20 and June 21, students $5; accompanying group carers free of charge. Bookings essential for school groups to 6286 9122 or info@pied-piper.com.au and 6pm June 22 and 23, tickets $5 at the door.

Natalie Mitchell, Lydia Hyland and Bailey Lifschutz
