USING found objects, both living and inanimate, these sculptures are a product of Rosalind Lemoh’s personal experience of being a nature lover and city-dweller.
Lemoh explores the reality for objects and living things in a natural, yet urbanised society; the new kinds of evolutions living things are confronted with in the face of industrial changes.
A banana is sculpted in polished concrete and smoothed with a lead coating, yet its blemishes are visible.
Sump oil contained in small glass bottles engraved with delicate forms such as the heart or bones speak of a connection between human, natural life and industrial production.
These are poetic pieces that evoke emotive response and speak about the duality of the natural and the industrial.
“Walking Blank,” by Roz Lemoh, at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Gorman House, 55 Ainslie Avenue, Braddon, August 24- September 29, Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm.
