New plans for Pialligo

RESIDENTS can now have their say on the draft master plan for Pialligo.

According to Minister for Environment at Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell, the draft master plan will outline strategies to protect and grow Pialligo including providing easier access for both pedestrians and vehicles, improving Beltana Road, protecting rural values and promoting the heritage value of Pialligo.

Mr Corbell said Pialligo had some of the most fertile land in the ACT which was popular with gardeners, as well as significant Aboriginal and European heritage values.

“Pialligo historically was the food bowl of early Canberra and today people can still buy fruit directly from farmers,” Mr Corbell said.

The government will use the feedback to create the final master plan. The consultation period ends on August 17.
