CORO, a new and different vocal group for this city, is holding its first concert this week, a program of early music including works by Bach, Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Lassus and Morales.
According to spokesman Paul Eldon, the idea is to “bring something new to Canberra, to move away from the existing community choir model and to bring a fresh sound to Canberra audiences”.
The music director is David Mackay and the musicians, all either professional or semi-professional singers based in Canberra, are Elizabeth Gibbs, Emma Griffiths, Jo Johnstone (sopranos), Alanna Mackay, Heather McIntyre, Mary Tatchell, David Yardley (altos), Paul Eldon, David Mackay, Daniel Sanderson, John Virgoe (tenors), Patrick Baker, Ian Blake, Alex O’Sullivan and Michael Tatchell (basses).
Coro ensemble, at Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, 7.30pm, Friday, March 30. Tickets at the door: *$30 adult | $20 concession (seniors and under-30) | $10 students*. (Ticket prices include post-performance drinks reception).
