PARTY like it’s 1912 this Australia Day at Blundells Cottage.

The free event will feature period games, tours of the Cottage and music from popular local folk band Mulligans Flat.

“In 1912, as now, families and friends came together on this day to celebrate what it means to be Australian. Picnics and games were very popular,” exhibition facilities manager Seona Doherty said.

“Dressing up in an iconic Australian way – complete with wattle and flags – or as a nurse or soldier, was part of the fun. We encourage Canberrans and interstate visitors to step-back in time at Blundells Cottage by dressing-up, joining in games of the era and enjoying the lakeside location to share a picnic.”
