Racegoers set to frock up for Sunday

The Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes will be a fashion frenzy as frocked up race-goers vie to win the vote for best dressed in this year’s Myer Fashions on the Field on Sunday, March 11.

Myer ambassador, Laura Dundovic heads up a very fashionable judging panel hosted by local fashionista Sarah Kelly.

Laura and Sarah will be joined by the 2012 Myer Face of Canberra Racing Brittany McGlone, stylist Sofia Polak, Westfield Belconnen stylist Janette Lenk and Myer Canberra store manager Rachel Paterson. Contestants will be judged on set criteria including overall style and originality of their racewear.

Myer Fashions On The Field has a total prize pool of more than $10,000. Prizes include Myer gift cards, travel vouchers, cash prizes, and a Arnold and Co diamond pendent. Categories include Classic Ladies Racewear, Classic Men’s Racewear, Classic Couples Racewear and the Millinery Award.

The 2012 Black Opal Stakes will be Laura Dundovic’s third visit to Canberra, with the Myer ambassador keen to see what the local fashionistas will be wearing trackside this Autumn racing season.

“I am excited to be returning to Canberra, as this is my third year judging Myer Fashions On the Field at The Black Opal Stakes. I am very excited to see how the Canberra contestants will showcase their racing attire this Sunday for the 2012 Myer Fashions on the Field competition,” Ms Dundovic said.

“When it comes to racing fashion, dress appropriately for the day – a head to toe polished look always stands out when judging, so make sure your finish your outfit with seasonal millinery.”

Canberra Racing Club CEO, Peter Stubbs, is looking forward to a great event and is excited to have Laura on board again for this year’s Cup.

“The Canberra Racing Club is delighted to have Myer as the official fashion partner. The ongoing support of Myer and Myer ambassador Laura Dundovic headlining Myer Fashions on the Field judging panel, all assists in bringing out the best in autumn racing fashion at this year’s Canberra Black Opal Stakes,” Mr Stubbs said.

Registration for Myer Fashions On The Field will be held at the Myer Fashions on the Field stage on Sunday, March 11 from noon until 1.30pm with the Classic Ladies Racewear and millinery heats starting at about 1.15pm.
