CANBERRANS will be the beneficiaries of one big Sydney Festival act at least when Scottish post-punk rockers, The Waterboys, come for one show at the Canberra Theatre.
Frontman Mike Scott says the show will span their 30-year back catalogue together with highlights from their new album “An Appointment with Mr Yeats” which celebrates the works of Irish poet W B Yeats.
It’s the band’s first visit to this country, but many Australians will have read Scott’s recently published musical memoir, “Adventures of a Waterboy”, described as an “eye-opening account of Scott’s life in music; serious, funny, profound, whimsical and enigmatic, with blow-by-blow descriptions of his days in teenage garage bands, the rise of The Waterboys, his exploits with Steve Wickham and the rest of the gang in the west of Ireland, and much, much more”.
The Waterboys, at the Canberra Theatre, 8pm, January 25, bookings to 6275 2700 or canberraticketing.com.au
